Knockout At-Risk Behaviours: How Boxing and Weights Training Can Empower Youth and Build a Brighter Future.

WORKOUT

Gym workouts empower disengaged youth by boosting mental and physical strength through endorphin release, fostering discipline and focus.

MENTORING

Among the most impactful strategies for breaking the cycle is mentorship. Positive Role Models, providing guidance, support, and good life advice.

Purpose

When disengaged youth are led astray by negative influences, they can easily become entangled in a vicious cycle within the youth justice system, resulting in significant costs for the family unit, local communities and society as a whole. Emerging evidence suggests that the combination of boxing and gym workouts can provide a transformative solution. By harnessing the physical and mental benefits of these activities, we can break this destructive cycle, empower youth, and create a path towards a brighter future personal growth with a positive and healthy outlook on life.

Studies have consistently highlighted the positive impact of physical exercise on individuals, especially those within the justice system. Boxing and gym workouts offer a unique opportunity for disengaged youth to channel their energy and frustration in a constructive manner. These activities help to release endorphins, reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being. Engaging in regular workouts fosters discipline, self-control, and a sense of accomplishment, instilling a newfound confidence that can break the grip of negative influences.

Many disengaged youth find themselves trapped in a cycle of anger and aggression. This can disengage them from relationships and connections with parents and siblings. Boxing and gym workouts provide a structured outlet for channeling these intense emotions in a healthy and controlled environment. Gloves Up program teaches participants self-discipline, respect for boundaries, and the importance of healthy competition. By redirecting their aggression into focused physical activity, youth can release pent-up emotions, learn to manage conflict, and develop resilience—skills essential for breaking free from vicious at risk behaviours that can lead on to violence and crime.
